Your Employment Status

All regular full-time associates on the regular payroll working at least thirty-six (36) hours per week are considered full-time benefits-eligible.

All regular part-time associates on the regular payroll working at least twenty (20) but less than thirty-six (36) hours per week are considered part-time benefits-eligible.

When a benefits-eligible part-time associate changes to benefits-eligible fulltime status, or vice versa, or when a non-benefits eligible associate changes to a benefits-eligible class, benefits are impacted.

Associate is no Longer Eligible for Benefits

Health Care/Dental/Vision
If an associate in a benefits-eligible class changes to a non-benefits-eligible class, Health Care and Dental/Vision coverage stops at the end of the month in which the transfer to benefits-ineligible employment occurs. Health Care, Dental and Vision coverage may be continued through the COBRA continuation provisions of the plans.

Life/AD&D/Business Travel Accident/STD/LTD
Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Basic Full-time Exempt LTD Coverage stops on the date on which the associate ceases to meet the eligibility requirements of the Plan.

Health Savings Accounts
Unlike a flexible spending account, your health savings account (HSA) is your own personal account. You have access to all of your funds, even if you become a non-benefits-eligible associate. However, you may no longer contribute to your HSA when you lose eligibility to the Consumer or Enhanced Consumer Medical Plan. AG’s matching contributions stop the last day of the month in which you lose eligibility to the Consumer or Enhanced Consumer Medical Plans.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Deposits stop for Flexible Spending Accounts when eligibility ceases. However, you can continue to request reimbursement (standard timing applies) of eligible expenses incurred through the date of the employment status change. You may be offered COBRA continuation of coverage through the end of the plan year if your claims are less than your FSA balance.

Retirement Savings Plan
Non-benefits-eligible associates may not make before-tax contributions or Roth contributions to the American Greetings Retirement Savings Plan. You may take loans, hardship withdrawals and in-service withdrawals, however, distributions are not available unless employment terminates.
